When the world was shrouded in darkness, the Goddess of Mana drew forth the Sword of Mana to smite the eight Benevodons, monsters of destruction.
She sealed the horrors inside the eight Mana Stones, bringing the realm back from the brink. Weakened from rebuilding the world, the Goddess changed herself into a tree and fell into a deep sleep for many years. However, the forces of evil soon sought to free the Benevodons to gain control of the world.
They started a terrible war to further their plot and destabilize the kingdoms. Peace was at an end. Mana itself began to disappear from the world and the Mana Tree started to wither… This overlapping story of interwoven destinies changes depending on who you choose as your main character and companions! “Trials of Mana” is the 3D remake of the hit Japanese classic RPG released in 1995.
It’s now fully modernized with quality graphics, an upgraded battle system, character voices, a remastered sound track, extra conversation interludes, and more! This daring tale of overcoming the tests of fate has been given new life! Will these young adventurers be able to use the power of mana to save the world from the brink of destruction?
This remake is everything I could ask for from a childhood game. The combat is A LOT more cleaner and the graphics is amazing.
Faithful remake with gorgeous graphics, gameplay, and fun and engaging story. A huge improvement to the original combat system with tons of cool tweaks and character progression. Full of 90’s JRPG tropes which should please most fans of the genre. Character design resembles Dragon Quest. Colourful environments with tons of exploration and combat to keep you busy. Cons:
-Voice acting may not be its shining point (note:-No multiplayer (original had multiplayer)
-Needs a bit more polish gameplay-wise as it is quite faithful to the original game in such a way that Secret of Mana was, however this isn’t necessarily a “bad” thing. Overall this deserves an 8.5 with the potential to be improved to a 9 due to some polish needed in areas of voice acting and gameplay. The colourful and inviting atmosphere the game presents coupled with an interesting story that encourages multiple playthroughs with charming characters and a highly engaging combat system with a small learning curve. ENJOY
Well only 5 hours into the game playing with the Spear, mage girl, and the thief. While you will meet the others in the game, the characters you choose will be the main focus of the story which gives you tons of replay ability and story plots. It will take some time to get used to the menu, the menu circle, and move circle. Overall you will enjoying this and will recommend it for those who enjoy JRPG’s.
The game is great you can go and level up characters and get new items like your typical RPG. The story is pretty interesting and it’s cool that it varies based on your characters you pick. As of right now the games performance is a little choppy when battling, nothing an update couldn’t fix. Also portability option is great!
